Local Rule 30 is a suggested plan: alternating weekends and one midweek evening. The rule lists ten numbered holidays. In odd years, the parent named first in the order has the odd-numbered holidays, and the other parent has the even-numbered holidays. Even years reverse that. Local Rule 29, in the same PDF, is a set of guidelines and is not a second schedule.

Juvenile courts for unmarried parents may use a different schedule.

Local Rule 30

Weekend
Alternating weekends, Friday 6:00 p.m. to Sunday 6:00 p.m., starting the first weekend after the journal entry is filed.
Midweek
One midweek day, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday if the parents do not agree on the day.
Holiday
Ten numbered holidays. Default time is 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. July 4 is noon on July 4 until noon on July 5. Holidays replace the regular schedule. The weekend rotation itself does not reset.
Summer
Each parent has four weeks. Give 30 days notice. The parent who gives that notice has priority unless the other parent's dates are a mandatory job shutdown. Children should be home for school purposes one week before school starts.

Local Rule 30 weekends (2026)

  • Other parent: 313 overnights (85.8%).
  • Parent with the first weekend: 52 overnights (14.2%).

Friday and Saturday nights every other weekend, starting the first Friday. The midweek time is 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is not an overnight.

The four summer weeks are dates the parents choose, so they are not in this count. July 4 can include one night. That night is not folded in, because the weekend parent and the holiday parent are named separately in the order.

Ohio R.C. 3119.231 references 90 overnights for a child support deviation. This count is an estimate, not advice. R.C. 3119.231.
